  • You are appointed as Block Development Officer in a town in your state. You found that there is a clerk in your office who Is not in a healthy state of mind. Many a times he’s found to be talking to himself and he is also found to be quarrelling with the visitors in the office.┬а Once he even shouted at you in front of all without any reason. On enquiry you found that earlier he was one of the best employees in your department. But things changed for the worst when he lost his only son in road accident last year. He spent a lot of money to save his son but to no avail. He and his wife both were shattered by this incident. His wife has been caught by several disease since then and needs regular medical treatment. He is further burdened with loan that he had to incur for his sonтАЩs treatment.
  • Since this clerk is not in position to work any more, the other clerk in your department is over-burdened. He has raised this issue time and again with you and previous BDO. When the last BDO tried to remove this clerk, he was met with severe opposition from the Community members of the clerk and even the MLA of the town had to intervene.

  • Identify the social welfare schemes of the government and employee policies which could be used to give a respectable retirement to the clerk e.g. – Ayushman Bharat Yojana- PMJAY
  • Request the administration to provide pension benefits to the clerk.
  • Also consult a suitable doctor about the situation of the clerk and seek his recommendations regarding the health of the clerk.
  • Arrange a meeting of seniors, MLA and the community leaders of the department. Explain the situation to all the stake holders with proof.
  • Discuss with them the recommendation of the Doctor as well and make them understand that it is not in the interest of the clerk to continue him in the service.
  • Show them the benefits that he will get post retirement from the government.
