Fake Universities in India
The University Grants Commission (UGC) reported 20 universities throughout India have been labeled as “fake.” Students cannot receive any degrees from these institutions. Delhi is home to the most of these universities, eight in total. The UGC’s action aims to safeguard students from falling for the scam of receiving their education from dubious and unaccredited institutions. Before enrolling, it is crucial for both students and their parents to confirm the university’ accreditation status.
A number of institutions are issuing degrees in violation of the requirements of the UGC Act, the UGC has learned. Degrees conferred by such institutions are not authentic nor recognized for use in further education or the workforce.
