  • The Union Minister of State for Chemical & Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya has said that the first Central Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (CICET) will be set up in Gujarat.
  • It will be the first ever such institute in India and will be set up either in Vatva or Surat on the lines of the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET) located in Ahmedabad.
  • Since Gujarat is a hub of chemical industries with the significant presence of Chemical industries in Vapi, Ankleshwar and Vatva, the need to set up CICET was felt by the government to facilitate chemical industries with research and innovations and hence benefit these industries.
