Inter-state portability of ration card begins in 4 states :-

In a bid to implement ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ across the country by June 1, 2020, the Centre on Friday kick-started inter-state portability of ration cards between Telangana-Andhra Pradesh as well as Maharashtra-Gujarat.
This means beneficiaries living in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh can buy their quota of ration from the Public Distribution System (PDS), also called ration shops, in either of the two States. Similar would be the case in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Gujarat to Get India’s First Central Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (CICET) :-

The Union Minister of State for Chemical & Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya has said that the first Central Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (CICET) will be set up in Gujarat.
It will be the first ever such institute in India and will be set up either in Vatva or Surat on the lines of the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET) located in Ahmedabad.
Since Gujarat is a hub of chemical industries with the significant presence of Chemical industries in Vapi, Ankleshwar and Vatva, the need to set up CICET was felt by the government to facilitate chemical industries with research and innovations and hence benefit these industries.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture and Tourism, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel launched the book ‘the Diary of Manu Gandhi’ (1943-44) at a function in the auditorium of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.
The book has been brought out by National Archives of India, on the occasion of 150 th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in collaboration with Oxford University Press.
The Diary of Manu Gandhi originally in Gujarati has been edited and translated by Dr Tridip Suhrud, a well known scholar engaged in understanding the Gandhian Intellectual tradition.
The first volume covers the period 1943-1944.
Manu Gandhi (Mridula) was a grand niece of Mahatma Gandhi , daughter of his Nephew Jaisukhlal Amritlal Gandhi, and stayed with Gandhiji till his assassination. She was an aide to Kasturba Gandhi during her imprisonment in the Aga Khan Palace in 1943.

NITI Aayog has prepared the second Round of Composite Water Management Index (CWMI 2.0) in which Gujarat is at the top.
CWMI 2.0 ranks various states for reference year 2017-18 as against base year 2016-17 (1st edition).
Gujarat is at the top in reference year (2017-18). Andhra Pradesh is on 2nd, Madhya Pradesh on 3rd, Goa on 4th, Karnataka on 5th and Tamil Nadu on 6th. In the last ranking also Gujarat was on top.
It said that among northeastern and Himalayan states, Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged first in 2017-18 followed by Uttarakhand, Tripura and Assam.

The idea of forming a green belt from Porbandar to Panipat will not only help in restoring degraded land through afforestation along the Aravali hill range that spans across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi, but also act as a barrier for dust coming from the deserts in western India and Pakistan.

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Dilip Parikh died at a private hospital in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad following a prolonged illness. He was 82.
Mr Parikh served as the 13th Chief Minister of Gujarat between October 1997 and March 1998 when he was with the Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP), floated by Shankersinh Vaghela, who had split the BJP.
