India Has 30 days to halt onset of stage III- Burning Issues

India is in stage II of the Covid-19 outbreak – where disease transmission is limited to those with travel history to the other countries
The progression to the next stage may eventually happen but by delaying it India is making itself better prepared to localise the situation.
The 51 labs for designated for testing Covid-19 swab samples are capable of conducting 4,590 tests daily. At present, 60 to 70 samples are being tested daily.
For testing, we require two key chemical agents, the primer and the probe. Primer can be prepared locally while probes have to be bought.
Stage 1 is getting imported cases,
stage 2 is local transmission,
stage 3 is community transmission and
stage 4 is when it turns into an epidemic.
While, India is at stage 2 now, experts said stern precautions were being taken so that going to stage 3 could be halted.
Between January 30 and March 16, 110 people in India have tested positive for COVID-19, the infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. These 110 were found positive from over 6,800 tests that were carried out ever beginning end of January
If you have a cold, cough or fever and don’t have a history of travel to countries that are high-risk at the moment or have not come in contact with travellers, chances are that you will not be tested immediately for coronavirus. As opposed to South Korea, which is testing as many as 12,000 people per day.
India is currently following a highly restricted testing protocol.
When a person is asymptomatic their viral load is not going to be very high in the beginning. If you give a negative report at that point of time it gives a sense of false security.
They can develop disease within 14 days during the incubation period. That is why , are restricting ourselves to only symptomatic ones.
There is a network of public health laboratories under the Department of Health Research and ICMR. Under this network, India has 106 virus research and diagnostic labs (VRDLs).
Detection of viral pathogens using serological methods and molecular diagnostic tools is the major focus of VRDLs.
