• The road, which has strategic significance, will reduce the distance between Guwahati and Tawangby 150 kilometres

• A bid to bolster ties with old friend Bhutan, India has, in response to the request of the Royal Government of Bhutan, opened up an additional trade route under JaigaonLand Customs Station (LCS).

• The new land route between India and Bhutan, for the movement of goods and Industrial raw materials destined for PasakhaIndustrial Estate, will boost bilateral trade and commerce and will lead to the decongestion of vehicular traffic along the Jaigaon-Phuentsholingroute.
• India is also considering opening another integrated check post (ICP). Land Ports Authority of India has Jaigaonin West Bengal’s Alipurduardistrict for the development of an integrated check post (ICP).
• Apart from opening and identifying more border trade points, India is also conducting a feasibility study for a rail link between the two neighbouring countries -between Mujnaiin West Bengal and Nyoenpalingin Bhutan.
