PM MODI, MALDIVIAN PRESIDENT JOINTLY INAUGURATE FOUR KEY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
- One of the projects includes the lighting up of Male using LED lights. Another project is the launch of the RuPay card in Maldives.
- Three fish processing plants were inaugurated and a Fast Interceptor Craft(boat) was gifted to the Maldives.
LED BULBS
- The MEA added,“(Regarding) Installation of LED streetlights in Male, 2500 LED streetlights donated by India were installed in Male recently.These streetlights save 80% energy and will result in cost savings of approx.
- 8.35 lakh MVR per year for Male city.
- They will also add to the safety and security of the residents of Male particularly women and children.”

PATROL VESSEL KAAMIYAAB
- The patrol vessel named “KAAMIYAAB” was handed over to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and it will be manned by eight MNDF personnel who will be trained in India.
- Making the announcement PM Modi said that the vessel had been constructed by L&T in his home state Gujarat.
- “It will help enhance Maldives’ maritime security and promote your blue economy and tourism,” said the PM.
L&T-CLASS FAST INTERCEPTOR CRAFT
- L&T fast interceptor craft are a series of high- speed interceptor boats being built by L&T Shipyard for the Indian Coast Guard.
- The ships are intended for patrol and rescue operations in India’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
