The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) won the 10^th national ice hockey championship held in Jammu and Kashmir’s tourist town of Gulmarg.
They defeated Ladakh 5-1 at the Gulmarg ice rink located at a height of 8,694 feet.
The national championship was organised by the Ice Hockey Association of India (IHAI) from January 16-22 in which eight teams participated.
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police functions under the administrative control of the Union home ministry and it is tasked to guard the 3,488 km long Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.

Zoji La Tunnel

2 km long road tunnel under Zoji La pass in the Himalayas

construction started in 2018.
The tunnel along with 6.5 km long Z-Morh Tunnel,
(which is 22 km before Zoji La tunnel towards Srinagar)
will ensure year-long road connectivity between Srinagar and Kargil which currently remains closed for about seven months due to heavy snowfall on the Zoji La pass which is situated at an altitude of 3,528 m (11,578 feet) on Srinagar-Kargil-Leh highway.
Zoji La was re-captured from Pakistani raiders under Operation Bison.
