- Online registrations for Khet Talab Yojna statrted from 18th May 2021 where the government will provide 50% subsidy of total cost in constructing the pond.
- The scheme was first started in Bundelkhand district and this scheme is run by Agriculture department of Government of UP.
- Funding is provided by central government under Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojna.
OBJECTIVE
- To motivate farmers for proper use and conservation of water.
- Store rainwater and use it for irrigation purpose.
- Safe and proper use of accumulated water.
- Increase the level of ground water.
TARGET AND SCOPE
Target will be completed in two phase.
PHASE 1
- Construction of 2000 ponds in 7 blocks of Bundelkhand district at total expenditure of 12.2 crore.
PHASE 2
- Construction of 3384 ponds at an expenditure of Rs. 27.88 crore in 167 overpowered and critical category blocks of 44 districts of the state including Bundelkhand.
POND SIZE
SMALL POND
- Size=(22m*20m*3m)
- Cost= Rs.105000 per pond
MEDIUM POND
- Size=(35m*30m*3m)
- cost= Rs.228400 per pond.
SELECTION OF BENIFICIARIES
- Priority must be given to SC and ST, Minority ,Small and marginal farmers as per approved list from District Magistrate level.
- A farmer can avail benefit for only one pond.
- It is mandatory for farmers to have online registration and choice of farm pond.
- Payment of grant of 50% will be made in 3 installments through direct benefit transfer.
GROUNDWATER IN UTTAR PRADESH
A report published after analysing the data of groundwater level in UP presents a grim picture. Some of its findings are:
- 70% of entire UP’s groundwater is over extracted.
- Agra, Firozabad, Badayun and Amethi are worst affected districts.
- 77 blocks in UP experienced steepest decline in groundwater.
- This scheme is launched keeping in mind the grim situation UP faces in terms of water table.
RASHTRIYA KRISHI VIKASH YOJNA
- RKVY scheme was initiated in 2007 as an umbrella scheme for ensuring holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors.
- The scheme incentivizes States to increase public investment in Agriculture & allied sectors.
- Scheme facilitated decentralized planing through State agriculture plan and district agriculture plan.
