Rapid Reporting System for the Scheme for Adolescent Girls

Ministry of Women and Child Development  Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Shri— Rakesh Srivastava launched the Phase -1 i.e. the beneficiary module of the Rapid Reporting System for the Scheme for Adolescent Girls – a web based on line monitoring for the Scheme for Adolescent Girls in New Delhi.

The RRS will facilitate the monitoring of the scheme and taking— corrective measures by ensuring faster flow of information, accurate targeting of the beneficiaries and reduction of leakages. This Portal has been developed in collaboration with National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Realizing the multi-dimensional needs of out of school adolescent— girls (11-14 years) and with an aim to motivate these girls to join school system, approved continuation of the Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG) for out of school girls in the age group of 11-14 years.

The scheme aims at providing them nutritional support @— Rs.9.50/beneficiary/day for 300 days in a year, motivating out of school girls to go back to formal schooling or skill training under non-nutrition component of the scheme.  Government has also approved expansion and universalisation of— the Scheme for Adolescent Girls in a phased manner i.e. in additional 303 districts in 2017-18 and the remaining districts in 2018-19 with the simultaneous phasing out of Kishori Shakti Yojana.

Presently, MWCD is implementing the Scheme for— Adolescent Girls (SAG) in selected 508 districts across the country. SAG aims at empowering out of school adolescent girls of 11 to 14 years by improving their nutritional and health status, upgrading their skills.  In addition to the nutritional support under the scheme, the— girls are equipped with information on health, hygiene and guidance on existing public services.The Scheme aims to mainstream out of school girls into formal education or non formal education.

The Management Information System (MIS)  portal for Anganwadi Services Training Programme

The Ministry of Women and Child Development in— collaboration with National Informatics Centre (NIC), has developed a Management Information System (MIS) portal for submitting applications/estimates by NGOs for carrying out Anganwadi Services (ICDS) Training through AWTCs/MLTCs.

The Anganwadi Services Training Programme under the— Umbrella Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme and the overall administration, management and monitoring of the implementation of the Scheme are being done by the respective State Government/UT Administration.

The training provided to the AnganwadiWorkers— (AWWs)/Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) and the Supervisors at the Anganwadi Workers Training Centres (AWTCs)/Middle Level Training Centres (MLTCs) is a part of the Anganwadi Services.

AWTCs/MLTCs are run either by the respective State— Governments/Union Territory Administrations or by NGOs under the supervision of respective State Governments/UT Administrations.

The Government of India releases funds to the State Governments/UT Administrations for implementation of the Scheme.

Teachers Associateship For Research Excellence (TARE) Scheme.

Ministry of Science & Technology

This scheme aims to facilitate mobility of faculty members— working in a regular capacity in State Universities / Colleges and in private Academic Institutions to carryout research work in an established public funded institution such as IITs, IISc, IISERS, National Institutions (NITs, CSIR, ICAR, ICMR labs and other central institutions) and Central Universities, located preferably nearer to the institution where the faculty member is working.  Research work will be carried out in such a manner to ensure— that TA continue to work in the host institute as well as his / her parent institute on mutually agreed terms between the TA and Mentor.

Not exceeding three years covering areas under Life Sciences,— Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences & Mathematical Sciences, including interdisciplinary areas.  Research fellowship of Rs. 60,000/- per year (in addition to the— researcher’s own salary) will be provided subject to completion of minimum 90 days research work per year in the host institution. Research grant of Rs. 5 lakhs per annum (50% each to host and parent institution) and overheads (as per SERB norms) will be provided.

AWSAR (Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research)

AWSAR (Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research) of— National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), DST has been initiated to encourage, empower and endow popular science writing through newspapers, magazines, blogs, social media, etc. by young PhD Scholars and Post-Doctoral Fellows during the course of their higher studies and research pursuits.

As over 20,000 youth are awarded PhD in S—&T every year in India, the scheme aims to tap this tremendous potential to popularize & communicate science and also to inculcate scientific temperament in the masses.

AWSAR carries monetary incentive of Rs.10,000/- each for— 100 best entries from PhD scholars in a year along with a Certificate of Appreciation besides getting the story published/projected in mass media. In addition, three leading stories from the selected hundred would also be awarded cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/-, Rs.50,000/- and Rs.25,000/- respectively.

Cyber Surakshit Bharat

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MeitY)

 Recognizing the need to strengthen the cybersecurity ecosystem in— India, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has announced the Cyber Surakshit Bharat initiative in association with National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and industry partners.  Conceptualized with the mission to spread awareness about cybercrime— and building capacity for safety measures for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and frontline IT staff across all government departments, Cyber Surakshit Bharat will be operated on the three principles of Awareness, Education and Enablement. The primary objective is to keep our data safe and protected.

 It will include an awareness program on the importance of— cybersecurity; a series of workshops on best practices and enablement of the officials with cybersecurity health tool kits to manage and mitigate cyber threats.  Cyber Surakshit Bharat is the first public-private partnership— of its kind and will leverage the expertise of the IT industry in cybersecurity.

Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN)

Union Cabinet has approved a programme titled Global— Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN) in Higher Education aimed at tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs internationally to encourage their engagement with the institutes of Higher Education in India so as to augment the country’s existing academic resources, accelerate the pace of quality reform, and elevate India’s scientific and technological capacity to global excellence.

GIAN is envisaged to catalyse higher education institutions in the— country, and that it will initially include all IITs, IIMs, Central Universities, IISc Bangalore, IISERs, NITs and IIITs subsequently cover good State Universities where the spinoff is vast.

GIAN is an evolving scheme which will initially include— participation of foreign faculty in Institutes as Distinguished / Adjunct / Visiting faculty / Professors of Practice, etc., to participate in delivering Short or Semester-long Courses. Other activities will be included in due course.
