The Observation
Why there was no UN body for elderly?
- The world’s population structure was very different when the United Nations and the World Health Organization were established in the 1940s.
- In 1950, there were around seven times more children under 15 years of age than people aged 65 and older.
What now?
- But by 2050, Young & the old population groups will be approximately the same size, with 1.5 billion people aged 65 and older.
- This will be nearly double the number of children who were alive at the establishment of the UN in 1940s.
What now?
You must be thinking…
- Why should I bother about Elderly?
- It’s now the problem of developed nations..
- I have young population..!!
Where can we start?
