Manipur To Get India’s First Sports University to promote sports education in the areas of sports sciences, sports technology, sports management and sports coaching Rs. 100 crore funds allocated in the 2014-15 budget for setting up the university 325.90 acres of land has been made available by the Government of Manipur in Koutruk village in Imphal West district

Mission Lakadong – Meghalaya
• Meghalaya has launched Mission Lakadong to produce 50,000 metric tonnes of the famous Lakadong turmeric per annum in the next five years.
• The mission (2018-2023) was launched by governor Ganga Prasad with the objective of enhancing the livelihood of farmers and building the brand equity of the Lakadong variety.
• Lakadong is a village in the West Jaintia Hills. Bogibeel, India’s longest rail-road bridge
• It has been built by Indian Railways over river Brahmaputra and provides crucial
rail-road connectivity to the lesser developed districts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

• In the forests inhabited by the Bugun tribe in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district, 10 village boys take turns every week to patrol a 17 square kilometre special area.
• In January 2017, the tribal members of the Bugun community of Singchung Village joined hands with the Forest Department to launch the Singchung Bugun Community Reserve (SBVCR) — a 17 square kilometre hotspot for biodiversity, the NGO won the India Biodiversity Award 2018 in the “Conservation of wildlife species” category conferred by the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) and presented by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change in association with the United Nations Development Program  in Hyderabad.

• The Reserve lies right next to the Eaglesnest Wildlife sanctuary, a biodiversity hotspot.
The Bugun Liocichla — a new bird species from the Reserve has no reported sighting anywhere else in the world.
Found in Eaglesnest Wildlife sanctuary International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Liocichla is classified as Critically Endangered (CR).
