Prime Minister’s Office

  •  Remembering Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose – PM Inaugurates Subhas Chandra Bose Museum at Red Fort
  • PM Visits Yaad-e-Jallian Museum, Museum on 1857 and Drishyakala Museum in Delhi
  • All 4 Museums named as Kranti Mandir.
  •  Remembering the heroes of freedom struggle, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi paid floral tributes and inaugurated the Subhas Chandra Bose museum at Red Fort today, to mark his 122nd birth anniversary.
  • In this very building, brave sons of India, Colonel Prem Sahgal, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon and Major General Shah Nawaz Khan were put on trial by the colonial rulers. PM also saw some of the artefacts associated with Netaji and INA such as wooden chair and sword used by Netaji, medals, badges and uniforms of INA.

Ministry of Defence

  • Indian Navy Coordinates Largest Ever Coastal Defence Exercise Ten Years After “26/11”
  • Ten years after “26/11”, the Indian Navy commenced the largest coastal defence exercise off the Indian coast today. Exercise SEA VIGIL, a first of its kind, is being undertaken along the entire 7516.6 km coastline and Exclusive Economic Zone of India and is involving all the 13 coastal States and Union Territories along with all maritime stakeholders, including the fishing and coastal communities.
  • The scale of the exercise is unprecedented in terms of the geographical extent, the number of stakeholders involved, the number of units participating and in terms of the objectives to be met.
  • The exercise is a build up towards the major theatre level tri-service exercise TROPEX [Theatre-level Readiness Operational Exercise] which Indian Navy conducts every two years.
  •  SEA VIGIL and TROPEX together will cover the entire spectrum of maritime security, including transition from peace to conflict. All Operational assets of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard are participating in the SEA VIGIL. The conduct of the exercise SEA VIGIL is also being facilitated by the Ministries of Defence, Home Affairs, Shipping, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Fisheries, Customs, State Governments and other agencies of Centre/ State.

Ministry of Railways

  •  The Central Organisation for Modernisation of Workshops (COFMOW) achieved best ever performance in the year 2018
  • COFMOW obtained an output of Rs. 1050.85 crores in the current year 2018-19
  • The Central Organisation for Modernisation of Workshops (COFMOW) is Indian Railways’ centre of excellence for procurement of modern and advanced machine tools, building ‘State of the Art’ rolling stock maintenance and manufacturing facilities for modernizing Indian Railway workshops

Ministry of Shipping

  • JNPT becomes the only Indian port to be listed amongst the world’s top 30 container ports
  • JNPT launched their App service to facilitate better tracking and ease the trade process for their EXIM partners
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Port also known as Nhava Sheva, is the largest container port in India.
  • Located east of Mumbai (previously known as ‘Bombay’) in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, this port on the Arabian Sea is accessed via Thane Creek.
  • Its common name derives from the names of Nhava and Sheva villages that were situated here. •This port is also the terminal of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (in construction). Jawaharlal Nehru Port is also commonly referred as JNPT (short for Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust).

Ministry of Home Affairs

  • Government institutes Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar
  • Government has instituted an annual award titled Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar.The award is to be announced every year on 23rd January on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. In the aftermath of any disaster, many organisations and individuals work silently but effectively to alleviate suffering of the affected population. Their immense contribution and selfless service to humanity often goes unacknowledged. Keeping this in view, Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has advised to institute a National Award so as to recognise the efforts of such organisations and individuals.
  • All Indian Citizens and organizations, who have excelled in areas of Disaster Management; like Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Rescue, Response, Relief, Rehabilitation, Research/ Innovations or Early Warning are eligible for the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar. ▪The award scheme for the year 2019 was given wide publicity and nominations of the award were solicited from 19th Dec 2018 onwards.
  •  For the year 2019, 8th Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) located at Ghaziabad has been selected for the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar

Ministry of Finance

  •  Cabinet approves creation of the National Bench of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT)
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the creation of National Bench of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT). The National Bench of the Appellate Tribunal shall be situated at New Delhi. GSTAT shall be presided over by the President and shall consist of one Technical Member (Centre) and one Technical Member (State).
  • Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal is the forum of second appeal in GST laws and the first common forum of dispute resolution between Centre and States.
  • The appeals against the orders in first appeals issued by the Appellate Authorities under the Central and State GST Acts lie before the GST Appellate Tribunal, which is common under the Central as well as State GST Acts. Being a common forum, GST Appellate Tribunal will ensure that there is uniformity in redressal of disputes arising under GST, and therefore, in implementation of GST across the country.
  • Chapter XVIII of the CGST Act provides for the Appeal and Review Mechanism for dispute resolution under the GST Regime.
  • Section 109 of this Chapter under CGST Act empowers the Central Government to constitute, on the recommendation of Council, by notification, with effect from such date as may be specified therein, an Appellate Tribunal known as the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal for hearing appeals against the orders passed by the Appellate Authority or the Revisional Authority.
