- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today pitched India, saying India is investment-friendly and welcomes FDI in all sectors.
- India’s democracy, demography and dynamism are making the dream of development a reality, thus giving shape to the destiny of the people.

• His Excellency Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, called on the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, at Rashtrapati Bhavan
• Welcoming the Vietnamese Prime Minister to India, the President said that India is delighted to host him as a guest of honour at the Republic Day celebrations.
• India is also celebrating 25 years of its partnership with ASEAN.
• Vietnam is a preferred partner for India in ASEAN and last year, we have celebrated ‘Year of Friendship’ to mark our warm and close ties.
• We need to redouble our efforts to reach the target of US $ 15 billion in bilateral trade by 2020.
• He stated that India remains committed to encouraging its industry to explore investment opportunities in Vietnam in pharma, solar, education and other sectors.
• We also need to enhance cooperation in the oil and gas sector, including through trilateral cooperation with friendly countries.
Ministry of Women and Child Development
• Secretary, Shri Rakesh Srivastava launched the Phase -1 i.e. the beneficiary module of the Rapid Reporting System for the Scheme for Adolescent Girls.
• It is a web based online monitoring for the Scheme for Adolescent Girls.

• Accurate targeting of the beneficiaries
• Reduction of leakages
• The Government on 16.11.2017, realizing the multidimensional needs of out of school adolescent girls (11-14years) owing to the onset of second growth spurt during this period and with a aim to motivate these girls to join school system, approved continuation of the Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG) for out of school girls in the age group of 11-14 years.
• The scheme aims at providing them nutritional support @Rs.9.50/beneficiary/day for 300 days in a year, motivating out of school girls to go back to formal schooling or skill training
under non-nutrition component of the scheme.
• Government has also approved expansion and universalisation of the Scheme for Adolescent Girls in a phased manner i.e. in additional 303 districts in 2017-18 and the remaining districts in
2018-19 with the simultaneous phasing out of Kishori Shakti Yojana.
• Presently, MWCD is implementing the Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG) in selected 508 districts across the country.
• SAG aims at empowering out of school adolescent girls of 11 to 14 years by improving their nutritional and health status, upgrading their skills.
• In addition to the nutritional support under the scheme, the girls are equipped with information on health, hygiene and guidance on existing public services.
• The Scheme aims to mainstream out of school girls into formal education or non-formal education.
• The scheme is being implemented using the platform of Integrated child Development Services Scheme.
• Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) are the focal point for the delivery of the services.
• Scheme for Adolescent Girls is a centrally sponsored scheme, implemented through Centre and State share in the ratio of 50:50, for nutrition component 60:40 for the rest of the activities for State and UTs with legislation, 90:10 for NE and three Himalayan States and 100% for UTs without legislation.
USA on Pakistan
• The US has asked Pakistan to immediately arrest or expel Taliban leaders who are carrying out terror attacks across the border in Afghanistan.
• The terse White House statement came after the Taliban claimed responsibility for a major terror attack at the Inter Continental Hotel in Kabul on Saturday that killed at least 22
people.

• External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today inaugurated India-ASEAN Friendship Park (Bharat-ASEAN Maitri park) in New Delhi.
• The name of the park has been inscribed in the all the languages of ASEAN countries. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Swaraj said, the park will attract the attention of all the visitors.
• She said, it demonstrates the shared commitment of India and the ASEAN nations of protecting the environment.
