World Economic Forum
- President Ram Nath Kovind has exhorted that a civic-minded nation is built by civic-minded neighbourhoods where one can disagree with another viewpoint or even with a historical context – without mocking fellow citizen’s dignity and personal space.
- He said the civic-minded people do not inconvenience their neighbours while celebrating a festival or resorting to a protest or on any other occasion.
- The President said this shows fraternity in action.
- In his address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day, Mr. Kovind called for elimination of the curse of poverty in the shortest possible time.
- It is our sacred obligation to eliminate the curse of poverty in the shortest possible time. This is non-negotiable for the Republic.
- Mr. Kovind stressed the need to further improve the lives of hardworking farmers.
- The President said the country has made strides in spreading literacy and now it must expand the frontiers of education and of knowledge.
- The President called for universal access to quality education and health-care, and to giving our daughters equal opportunity in every field.
- Mr. Kovind said, a happy and equal-opportunity nation is built by happy and equal-opportunity families, where girls have the same rights and the same access to education and health-care as boys.
- A young country like India can do it.
- Mr Kovind said, the schooling system in the country has to encourage children to think and to tinker, not just to memorise and reproduce.
- He said India has made strides in tackling hunger, but the challenge of malnutrition and of bringing the right micronutrients to the plate of every child is still there.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said India is committed to work with ASEAN nations to enhance collaboration in the maritime domain.
- Addressing the plenary session of the India-ASEAN commemorative summit in New Delhi this evening, Mr Modi said, freedom of navigation will be a key focus of India, ASEAN
in the maritime domain. - He said India shares the ASEAN vision for rule based societies and value of peace.
- 70 billion dollar trade has grown 25 times, over 25 years investment from ASEAN and India her robust and growing.
- India will continue to work with ASEAN to further enhance our trade ties and facilitate interaction among our business community.
External Affairs Ministry
- External Affairs Ministry today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed peace, security and stability in the region during his bilateral talks with visiting ASEAN leaders.
- Secretary (East) in the Ministry Preeti Saran said, discussion with the Vietnamese leader focused on defence and maritime cooperation.
- Counter terrorism, drug trafficking, capacity building was main point of discussion between India and Philippines.
