PUZZLE—1
8 kids are playing a game. They are standing in a row. In front of them are 8 matchboxes with 5, 7,
8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 17 matches. Kids are wearing T-shirts of Green, Black, Magenta. Purple, Yellow,
Blue. White and Orange color. As per the game extreme left is at 1st position and extreme right is
at 8th. Then they will change their positions, there will be 4 arrangements. In every arrangement
next arrangement is based on position numbers based on previous arrangement – In 1st arrangement
, 1st will swap position with 3rd and 5th with 7th. In 2nd arrangement – 2nd will swap with
4th and 6th with 8th. 3rd arrangement 1st will swap with 5th, 2nd with 6th, 3rd with 7th, 4th with
8th. last arrangement 4th – 1st with 7th, 2nd with 8th, 3rd with 5th and 4th with 6th position of
matchboxes remain same , only kids change their positions
Original arrangement –
matches of C = matches of A + matches of D
Purple has twice matches of B who is wearing orange
Black is adjacent to White and Purple
difference of A and F = twice of matches of black one
Magenta is at an extreme end, H (green) is at 4th left from magenta 3rd from left has 8 matches,
one with 16 matches is not sitting 4th from right
White Kid has matches as much more than Magenta one as the one wearing Orange has
In 2nd arrangement – extreme right is wearing black
In 3rd arrangement – H has 5 matches in front of him
In 3rd arrangement – 3rd from the right has 13 matches originally
In 3rd arrangement – B is fourth from right
In 4th arrangement – C is at extreme left and has 12 matches
In 4th arrangement – F and C differ by 5 matches with F having more matches than C Yellow and
Blue Kids are adjacent throughout 4 arrangements with yellow wearing kid having more matches than Blue kid in original arrangement
