Trump also said that the two countries have conducted defence hardware trade around USD 18 billion over the last 10 years and many more defence deals were in the pipeline.

The first India-United States tri-services exercise is likely to take place in 2019 in India.
The Indo-US joint tri-services drill was formally announced after first 2+2 dialogue between principals of External Affairs and Defence Ministries of two countries which was held in New Delhi in September 2018.

The three forces of India and US already take part in multiple bilateral exercises separately.
Moreover, armies of both countries are also participating in annual drill called Yudh Abyaas

For the first time, the US and India will be holding the tri-service military exercise and the second such tri-service exercise to be conducted by India with any other country after Russia.

The first tri-services exercise with Russia was held in October in 2017. The exercise called INDRA-2017 was India’s way of balancing strategic relations with Russia and the US and send a message to China.
Officials said that the first ever Indo-Russia Joint Tri Services Exercise was a combination of training and cross training in field conditions on land, sea and air, to achieve seamless integration.
INDRA Exercise INDRA-2017 was conducted at the 249th Combined Army Range Sergeevisky and in the Sea of Japan near Vladivostok.
The Indian contingent comprised of 350 personnel from Army, 80 from Air Force, two IL 76 aircraft and one Frigate and Corvette each from the Navy. The Russian Federation Armed Forces represented by approximately 1000 troops of the 5th Army, Marines and Ships of Pacific Fleet and aircraft from Eastern Military District.
