UPSC CSE 2020 Preliminary Examination

- Less than 7 WEEKS to go.
- Lakhs of aspirants are anxious about appearing for UPSC’s preliminary exams for civil services due to the COVID19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.
UPSC Exams already affected
- NDA and NA (I) Exam 2020
- Civil Services Personality Test (Interview) 2019
- Indian Engineering services Notification
- Combine Medical Services Examination Notification
Problems being Faced by aspirants
- The Lockdown has resulted in shutting down of coaching classes, libraries, hostels.
- Many have returned home, some stayed back are ‘stuck’ in PG accommodations/rented rooms in cities like Delhi, Hyderabad etc
- Lack of books, study materials etc has severely hampered their preparation.
- Interviews for CSE 2019 were postponed. The future of about 2000 candidates is in limbo – Pre or Interview?
My Assessment
- Exam will be postponed according to the length of Lockdown
- If Covid19 spread is controlled by April End, exam can be held on time.
- Extra centres may be used by UPSC to follow social distancing measures.
- Another window to withdraw applications can be given to manage exam centres in an efficient way.
- Option to change centre.
What Should a ‘serious’ aspirant do right now?
- This is a ‘GOLDEN PERIOD’ which has been given to you by circumstances.
- Finish the Syllabus !
- Revise, revise and then revise again.
- Attempt mock tests online.
- If you are already well prepared for pre, read those ‘suggested reading’ books for an extra edge.
- Start preparing for mains answer writing .
