Eligibility Criteria for WBPSC Sub-Inspector 2018 Recruitment
To be eligible for the WBPSC Sub Inspector post, the candidate should fulfill the following criteria:
Nationality: The candidate applying for the SI post must be a citizen of India or if he/she from
Age Limit: The minimum age of the candidate should not be below 18 years and the maximum not more than 40 years as on January 01, 2018. This means that the candidate should not be born earlier than 2nd January 1978 and not later than 1st January 2000.
Note: – The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for S.C. & S.T. candidates and by 3 years for B.C. (Non- Creamy Layer) candidates. No relaxation is applicable to S.C./S.T./B.C. candidates of other States as they shall be treated as general unreserved candidates.
Educational Qualification: The candidate must have passed Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent. Also, he should have the ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali).

SYLLABUS
PART-I (General Studies): Matters of common experience including every day science and observations, current affairs/problems with special reference to India, elementary knowledge of Indian history andIndian Geography.
PAPER-II (Arithmetic): Questions will be set on the basis of the syllabus of Madhyamik standard examination. Questions to assess Mental Ability will also be included in this part.
Selection Process
The selection of the candidates in WBPSC for the Sub-Inspector recruitment will be based on the written test (MCQ type) followed by Personality Test to be conducted by the Public Service Commission, West Bengal. The marks in the written examination will be fixed by the Public Service Commission, West Bengal along with the marks of the personality test in the aggregate.
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (Objective Multiple Choice Question) will only be called for verification of testimonials and Personality Test. Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the Written Examination and Personality Test.
Note: – All appointments shall initially be made on a temporary basis.
Pay Scale
The candidates selected for the Sub Inspector post in WBPSC will receive a monthly salary of Rs. 5,400/- to Rs. 25,200/- along with the Grade Pay of Rs. 2,600/- besides Dearness Allowances, Miscellaneous Allowances, and House Rent allowances will be admissible as per rules prescribed by the government
